AFF SUZUKI CUP -SINGAPORE BEAT MYANMAR 3-I IN MATCH MARRED BY VIOLENCE AGAINST REF

In the AFF Suzuki Cup Singapore beat Myanmar 3-1.

One moment of madness resulted in Myanmar goalie being sent off. Unhappy with the referee’s decision in allowing Singapore to take a free kick quickly, which resulted in a goal, the goalie ran all the way to the halfway line and pushed the ref in the back!

For about 10 minutes the game came to a standstill as the Myanmar players refused to carry on with the game.

Come on, Myanmar, this is only the preliminary stage of the competition.

AFF should come down harder on teams that bring the game into disrepute.

If this were to happen in EPL or the European Cup, the teams will be fined thousands of dollars on top of other penalties.

I’ve long admired Myanmar soccer for their hard running and skills but indulging in petulance is not only unprofessional but, worse, childish.

Still, I wish Myanmar all the best in the competition.

  1. That referee ruined a good game. And Myanmar footballers are also immature as always.

    • ASEAN footballers will not be able to win the respect of other countries if they indulge in kampung football antics. First it was Thailand, remember? As national footballers, they should jolly know that free kicks can be taken quickly as after all you’ve denied them of a scoring opportunity.
