Bribing Malaysian cops: Singapore driver jailed and fined
In an earlier post I’ve warned Singapore motorists in Malaysia to beware of the usual practice of bribing their cops.
To improve their promotion prospects and get a bonus of 100 ringgit for every case, cops are to report bribery attempts.
As expected, a Singapore driver has been caught, given a one- day jail sentence, and fined RM$10,000 to boot.
This is a rather harsh punishment in my opinion.
I hope the driver was not entrapped in any way.
While driving in Malaysia, we should respect Malaysian laws. Pay the price if you don’t but don’t bribe the cops.
Possibly, a new dawn has risen in Malaysia… ahem.
