Tin Pei Ling: PAP scraping bottom of barrel?

Every election, the PAP brags about how rigorous its selection process is.

However, this time round we have our doubts. Eyebrows are raised over some of the PAP’s choices.

Almost everybody I spoke to expressed great surprise, and in some cases incredulity, over the choice of Tin Pei Ling. Netizens have been quick to express their disbelief and shock though some attacks were below the belt.

The PAP leadership have expressed dismay over the viciousness of the storm breaking over TPL. While they have my sympathy, they have to ask why. People don’t get angry for no rime or reason so there’s real anger out there.

If you want to to be in public office, be prepared to come under scrutiny. We live in a global village where even what colour underwear you fancy can be unearthed.

As an MP, your decision, if it’s only to mumble “Yes, Minister”,will have an impact not only on our lives but more importantly our pockets as well.

It’s a foregone conclusion TPL will be ushered into Parliament by the back door through the much-hated GRC.

PAP prides itself on its occupation of the high moral ground but it’d be beneficial if it could do some soul-searching. Parliament is not to be taken lightly, and sneaking newbies into that august body erodes your credibility.

Unless your credo is the ends justifies the means.

With the selection of TPL,  whose credentials for Parliament remain a mystery to the public, PAP appears to be scraping the bottom of the barrel.

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.
Abraham Lincoln, (attributed)
16th president of US (1809 – 1865)
