Bike Commuting in Singapore: towards a bike friendly nation

The authorities as well as leading advocates have kept silent on the subject of bike lanes for cyclists.

It’s a hopeless cause.

So it’s back to square one: the use of pedestrian pavements. Some pedestrians are unhappy.

However, if cyclists are considerate and careful, sharing of pedestrian pavements should not pose a big problem.

The authorities have done much to make Singapore bike-friendly eg bike ramps, Park Connector Network (PCN). But more needs to be done.

Taiwan offers many lessons on this. It’s now touted as the bike capital of Asia.

Happy biking.

The good: bike ramp

The bad: curb makes access to this park difficult. Annoying to dismount.
